Simple crafty ideas that will be sure to brighten your day

  • DIY Ribbon-Crossed Bulletin Board

This was a fun an easy project! I have a smaller bulletin board that isn’t big enough for my growing collection of concert memorabilia, so I purchased a bigger one. I thought it would be fun to decorate it with music note fabric and stapled cotton quilt batting underneath for extra padding. Once I stapled the fabric down, I used hot glue to lay the ribbon in a crisscross pattern and plan to find some fancy push pins to help secure my pictures and such. I think I’m going to use the excess fabric and batting for the smaller bulletin board =]

  • World Water Day

World Water Day is a very obscure global holiday that not many people are aware exists. As vice president of my school’s Human Rights Club, we want to bring awareness to the students on the importance of water conservation and the stunning realization of how much water we waste each day. This Thursday, our club is raising money for the Charity Water organization (http://www.charitywater.org/) that brings clean water to those who don’t have any.

My friend Josh and I made this ‘Empty Wishing Well’ for people to put money into either in the form of donations or from buying the dehydrated ice cream and fruit that we’ll be selling. I think it turned out very nicely and the bucket even moves some when you pull the rope!

  • Paint Chip and Bows/lace/corsets ATC’s!

Been awhile since my last post, since I haven’t been up to much crafting lately. I’ve mainly just enjoyed making artist trading cards for swaps. Recently I did a Bows, corsets, and lace theme swap which was A LOT of fun; I wanted to keep the cards for myself! The other swap was a fun one also, you chose a paint chip and made the cards according to the theme of the name of the color such as ‘spicy pumpkin’ or ‘satin pink ribbon’. Here are the final products!

  • More Lovely ATC’s

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and while I’m against everything the holiday stands for, it always makes me enjoy the hearts and other pink things I see. These two swaps I am participating involve anything love related and “I spy something pink”. Here they are!

  • New mini hobby!

Seeing all the pretty spring flowers popping up at my work, I can’t help but want to make my own arrangements! Here are two that I’ve started and am continuing to add on to them as I get the cash flow for stems ;)

  • NEW CRAFT SPACE!!

I’m so excited about this post I can hardly type! For the past few years, I’ve been sitting on the cold concrete floor in our basement doing my miscellaneous crafts. My dad’s gotten tired of coming home to the clutter, so we agreed on a new location 10 feet away on an old work bench of his that isn’t used for much other than storage purposes. Anyways, he cleared it off for me and I began moving all of my craft supplies into this more comfortable and spacious area. I never realized I had so much stuff!! Thanks dad =D

And one of my favorite prayers, The Serenity Prayer, is hanging right beside me as a reminder to remain sane. :P

  • I want to buy everything!

It is now a proven fact: A crafter should NOT work at a craft store!

On that note, glitter is the herpes of craft stores.

On a different note, I am moving all my of supplies to a new craft space..it’s looking amazing! Pics to come soon =D

  • More Winter ATCs!

Here are some more ATCs I’m about to send off to Texas tomorrow for a Christmas/winter themed swap. I like how they turned out again, but I really need to work on not using any raised embellishments. As cute as that snowman may look, he might be a little too thick for someone’s taste.

  • Christmas ATCs

Christmas will soon be upon us! I decided to ring in the holidays with these seasonal artist trading cards that I’m getting ready to mail out to Australia where the swap is being held! I’m still finding glitter on myself, but I think they turned out to be quite festive =]

  • Winter is just around the corner!

To pass the time along on chilly nights, I take up a little bit of knitting. I recently discovered this new type of yarn by Patons called Pirouette. It’s more of a net than it is a yarn, but very gorgeous! It comes in different blends of colors featuring sequins, glitter, and other embellishments. It was weird trying to figure out what to do at first because it’s an odd way to knit. It’s a different type of stitch, the yarn can tangle easily if not careful, and no tension is required which was uncomfortable for me. I had to watch a youtube video to figure out how to start it! They aren’t as warm as a wool scarf by any means, but they get the job done and the ruffles are very decorative!
